APARTMENT INTERIOR

FINAL DESIGN

Final visual development for the interior of the apartment: the 3D model is used as a reference for object placement within Siew Li's house as well as lighting.

DEVELOPMENT (LAYOUT)

Initially, we had problems with planning the layout and the placement of the rooms. Creating a rough 3D version in Maya further helped us to visualise the interior more easily.

This also resulted in a change in the original layout, which we discovered had rooms  that were too small when recreated in 3D.

DEVELOPMENT

(ROOM DETAILS)

Environment art of Siew Li's apartment. Her cluttered and messy apartment reflects her careless personality, as well as the trait of being a compulsive hoarder.

DEVELOPMENT

(COLOR TESTS)

During the development of the story, we tested the color and lighting for the living room and storeroom, where the main parts of the story would be taking place using a two-color palette.

In the end, we picked a green/brown color palette (top row, middle) as it is associated with the retro-Asian style, but using a strong contrast (top row, right).

DEVELOPMENT

(WORLD BUILDING)

Exploratory art of the possible props in Siew Li's apartment, taking note of her occupation as a mechanic in an Asian setting. We also tried to use these props to establish the retro-futuristic world that she lives in.

DEVELOPMENT

(MINOR PROJECT)

Minor project of 3D vignettes done using ZBrush and Maya. The project was used to explore the setting of Siew Li's house, as well as practice ZBrush and Maya skills.
